Part-time Veterinarian

Dr. Nadia Saklou has joined our practice after completing her Large Animal Internal Medicine residency at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. She earned both her Bachelors of Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. She then completed an equine internship at Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic in Salinas, California before beginning her residency. Dr. Saklou grew up riding hunter/jumpers in Texas and developed “the bug” after acquiring her first horse in high school. From a young age, she became involved with veterinary medicine working as a veterinary technician with companion animals, equine, livestock and wildlife. Since then, her passion for medicine has become even stronger, leading her through extensive education. Additionally, her herd has grown to include all sorts of critters through the years (including pig, llamas, goats, donkey, cow). Dr. Saklou has a strong interest in internal medicine including infectious disease as well as neurologic, respiratory, renal and gastrointestinal health in all large animal species. She is currently completing a PhD at Virginia Tech focusing on Equine Herpesvirus type 1.  In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, riding her horses on trails or in the arena and spending time with her beloved critters, friends and family.
