Vaccinations

There are many vaccines available, and it can be overwhelming to determine what your animal needs! Below are our general recommendations for the main species we service. Recommendations may vary for your animal.

Did you also know there are advantages to having your veterinarian administer your vaccines?

  • Your vet is a trusted partner in your animal's health care, and part of that trust is knowing that they have properly stored and handled the vaccines prior to administration.
  • Your vet has many prescription drugs available should your pet have a reaction. This has come in handy many times for our clients!
  • Most vaccines are backed up by guarantees from the manufacturer - if you properly vaccinate your animal, and it is performed by a veterinarian, most companies will cover your medical expenses should your horse still get the disease. This can save you several thousands of dollars in veterinary care!

Does your animal really need all of these vaccines?
  •  Core Vaccines:  These are the vaccines that every animal in our area should be vaccinated against. These diseases are generally environmental risks and result in higher mortality (death rate).
  • Risk-based Vaccines:  These are usually diseases that are spread from animal to animal within one species, and are usually less likely to cause death. Many of these diseases economic and training losses. The risks of these diseases should be weighed against the cost of vaccination and potential side effects.
